Mama June Shannon has qualms about her daughter Honey Boo Boo going under the knife to lose weight.
“I’m supportive if this is something Alana wants to get,” Mama June said. “But I would say she needs to wait until she’s 18 years old.”
Honey Boo Boo, whose real name is Alana Thompson, will be 17 when she plans to receive the suture sculpt endoscopic sleeve from weight loss expert Dr. Steven Batash.
Alana is expected to have the surgery along with new boyfriend Dralin Carswell for around $13,000.
Shannon, 42, told the outlet that she’s going to talk to Alana’s sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, who is her guardian now, about postponing the procedure.
“It kind of bothers me that Pumpkin didn’t tell me,” she said. “If Alana wants to do it, she should wait to sign her own paperwork at 18.”
Although Alana’s manager has confirmed to media that she will have the surgery, it is still not 100%.
“I just wanna make sure that this is actually something I wanna do before I just go and do it,” Alana explained. “I wanna make sure that it’s, like, not something that’s, like, gonna kill me. And I just wanna make sure it’s something I actually wanna do before I go and do it.”
Despite being a bit reluctant, Alana admits she knows the surgery will be her easiest way to lose weight. “I just think I don’t have motivation, and I feel like the surgery would be, like, probably the easiest way to just, like, lose it fast,” she said.
