Gigi Hadid’s new swimsuit line includes a sweet nod to her 1-year-old daughter, Khai.
While the model’s previously celebrated her little one with personalized necklaces, matching outfits and even a tattoo, her collaboration with Frankies Bikinis includes a print featuring a mother deer with her fawn, meant to represent Hadid and her firstborn with ex Zayn Malik.
“The inspiration for this collection was really centered around Gigi’s time spent at her family home in Pennsylvania, and all of the memories created there with friends and family,” brand founder Francesca Aiello.
“With the collection being so centered around family, nostalgia and memories, she wanted to make sure we had something special to commemorate motherhood in a way that organically fit into the collection,” she continues.
“Both of our mothers play such a huge role in our lives and now she is a mother herself, so it was important to have this showcased.”
In addition to shades of yellow and baby blue and dreamy details like ruffles, eyelet and pointelle, all also associated with babies and childhood, Hadid also snuck in a tribute to her and Aiello’s friendship, creating a print of a tree stump carved with both their initials.
“Frank and I have been friends for so long, since before our careers started, cheering each other on from near and far through everything,” Hadid, who celebrated her 27th birthday this weekend, tells us exclusively.
“So to be able to come together to design and shoot a collection [with our other childhood best friend, photographer Alana O’Herlihy], after a decade in this industry, is a surreal moment.”
There will be two collections for fans to snap up, with a total of 98 pieces ranging in size from XS to XXL and in price from $45 (for a headscarf) to $185 (for one-piece suits). The first drops May 11, with the second following on June 2.
Those looking to get their hands on Hadid’s designs early can sign up to receive a link to shop the first collection on May 11 at 11 a.m. ET, one hour before the official launch at 12 p.m. ET.
