Tom Jones is revealing the real reason why his Budapest concert was really cancelled.
A source claims, that the 82-year-old “It’s Not Unusual” singer collapsed one hour before his show on Tuesday. However, Jones disputed that on Instagram, stating he had doctor’s orders not to perform because of viral laryngitis.
“Hello to all concerned. I traveled last night from the UK to Budapest and woke this morning with an uncomfortable throat,” he wrote.
“A specialist came to visit and diagnosed ‘viral laryngitis.’ He strongly advised postponing this evening’s show and prescribed medication and vocal rest,” he continued. “I did not ‘collapse’ anywhere at any time, that is pure rumor. Hopefully, the inflammation will calm soon as I am looking forward to continuing my wonderful summer tour.”
His “Surrounded by Time” tour remains in Europe until his first US tour date in Atlantic City on Sept. 9.
Back in 2021, Jones had spoken about going through quarantine. “I’ve been doing ‘The Voice UK,’ so that’s kept me busy. That’s really saved my life, you know, being out with people,” he said.
