The 7-year old Princess Charlotte got very emotional during her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral service on Monday.
Her mother Kate Middleton could be seen trying to comfort the sobbing little princess as she had to say a final goodbye.
Kate placed a hand on Princess Charlotte’s back and rubbed it gently to comfort her as they walked into Westminster Abbey. The Princess of Wales could also be seen holding the young royal’s hand as they walked into the church.
Charlotte’s grandfather King Charles III was also seen holding back tears during the memorial. Similarly, her aunt Meghan Markle had tears streaming down her face during the ceremony at Wellington Arch.
While Charlotte and Prince George joined their family at the late monarch’s emotional funeral, their 4-year-old brother Prince Louis did not attend due to his young age.
George, 9, who is currently second in line to the throne, received reassurance from his great-aunt Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Upon their arrival earlier Monday, the siblings joined their father, Prince William, and walked down the aisle of Westminster Abbey behind their parents.
George and Charlotte were solemn and very well-behaved during the funeral, with the princess wearing a black dress and a diamond brooch in the shape of a horseshoe. The only daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales is said to share the Queen’s love of horses, and the brooch was reportedly a gift from her late great-grandmother.
