“RuPaul’s Drag Race” star George Ward, best known by his stage name Cherry Valentine, died aged 28, his family announced.
Ward AKA Cherry Valentine died on Sunday, but no cause of death is clear at this time.
Ward found fame after landing a spot in the second season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK”, the British version of the hit US show. In December 2020, Ward became one of the 12 contestants taking part in the show.
After getting his name publicly known, he went on to launch a TV career and even had his own BBC documentary titled “Gypsy Queen and Proud.”
“It is with the most heart-wrenching and deepest sadness to inform you that our George, Cherry Valentine, has tragically passed away,” Ward’s family said in a statement. “This will come as a profound shock to most people and we understand there is no easy way for this to be announced. As his family, we are still processing his death and our lives will never be the same.”
“We understand how much he is loved and how many lives he has inspired and touched. All we ask is for your patience and your prayers in this time. We love you Georgie,” the family added.
Ward worked as a qualified mental health nurse in 2015 before finding his love for drag.
Announcing his drag persona Cherry Valentine to the world, Ward said she defines “glamour” and can be described as “dark” and “Gothic.”
His drag persona also saw him perform with the likes of Charli XCX, with whom he appeared in a music video.
So, the “vaccine” claims another victim . . .
