One way to start with a clean slate, pack everything up and leave it all behind.
Mark Wahlberg decided to put his family first and that means leaving his LA lifestyle behind and moving out to Nevada.
Wahlberg revealed that he packed up his things and moved his family out of their plush $90 million California mansion in a bid for a “better life.”
Appearing on Tuesday’s episode of “The Talk,” Wahlberg opened up about the “biggest challenge” he faces while having to balance his career and being a family man.
“I want to be able to work from home,” Wahlberg, 51, said. “I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting, and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there. So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us.”
Wahlberg shares four children; Ella, 18; Michael, 16; Brendan, 13; and Grace, 12, with his wife of 13 years, Rhea Durham.
In April Mark listed his Beverely Hills home for $87.5 million. He originally purchased the 30,500-square-foot home back in 2009 for $8.25 million.
The estate features 12 bedrooms and 20 bathrooms along with a home theater, a wine cellar, a five-hole golf course, a tennis court, a skate park and a separate guest house.
Taking cues from European estates, the main house boasts a double-height foyer leading to a wrought-iron imperial staircase, plus arched door frames, fireplaces, statement lighting and French doors throughout.
It also includes formal living and dining rooms, an eat-in kitchen with two islands, a light-filled breakfast nook and a family room, listing photos show. In addition, there’s the wood-paneled library, a home theater, a wet bar, a wine cellar and tasting room, a professional-style gym and a primary bedroom suite with a sitting area, two bathrooms and two dressing rooms.
There are also beautiful gardens and lushly landscaped grounds including huge lawns, a five-hole golf course, a tennis court, a resort-like grotto pool, a skate park and a guest house, all set amidst total privacy.
After deciding to leave his flashy property in California, Wahlberg secured an impressive estate in Nevada for his family. He purchased a home in Summerlin, located just outside Las Vegas, for $15.6 million.
“We came here to just kind of give ourselves a new look, a fresh start for the kids, and there’s a lot of opportunity here. I’m really excited about the future,” Wahlberg said.
Wahlberg revealed he’s planning on building a “state-of-the-art studio” in his new pad, making it “Hollywood 2.0.” What’s more, the actor said he hopes to build “a shoe factory and a factory for Municipal,” the sports apparel company he co-founded in 2019.
He’s right California is a LOSER state.
