Actress Christina Applegate is gearing up for her first event appearance after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis last year.
The 50-year-old actress posted on Twitter to share a photo of the walking sticks she plans on using during the event.
“I have a very important ceremony coming up,” she wrote alongside a snap of five different walking sticks. “This will be my first time out since diagnosed with MS. Walking sticks are now part of my new normal. Stay tuned to see which ones make the cut for a week of stuff.”
Applegate announced she was diagnosed with the often disabling disease last August.
“Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It’s been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition,” Applegate tweeted at the time. “It’s been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a–hole blocks it. As one of my friends that has MS said ‘we wake up and take the indicated action’. And that’s what I do. So now I ask for privacy. As I go through this thing. Thank you xo.”
Since her diagnosis, Applegate has taken a break from the spotlight, occasionally posting on social media to give fans an update.
On her 50th birthday last November, the actress reflected on her new normal and the challenges that came with it.
“Yup. I turned 50 today. And I have MS,” the actress tweeted. “It’s been a hard one. Sending so much love to all of you this day. Many are hurting today, and I am thinking of you. May we find that strength to lift our heads up. Mine currently is on my pillow. But I try.”
Although Applegate struggles to find strength some days, she can rely on her co-star and friend Selma Blair, who was also diagnosed with MS in 2018.

Applegate has been married to Dutch bassist Martyn LeNoble since 2013 and the pair share 11-year-old daughter Sadie.
