June “Mama June” Shannon is grieving the tragic loss of her oldest daughter, Anna “Chickadee” Caldwell, after she recently passed away from her battle with stage 4 cancer.
Caldwell was only 29-years old at the time of her passing and Mama June announced the emotional loss in an emotional Instagram post on Sunday.
“With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM,” wrote Mama June. “She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her.”
“We will will be updating y’all with more information as we get it today. We love y’all and continued prayers and thoughts for our family during this difficult time,” Shannon, 44, added.
Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson also mourned the loss of her sister on social media.
“This is one post I wish I didn’t have to make 💔 Last night we all surrounded Anna with love & let her know it was okay to go. Unfortunately around 11pm Anna took her last breathe,” the 18-year-old shared on Instagram alongside a family photo.
“Anna was in so much pain last night but now as a family we all know she is at peace now,” she continued. “I really don’t know what to say as my heart is completely broken. Watching my 29 year old sister this last year battle this horrible disease hasn’t been easy.”
Alana wished her sister would have been able to se her graduate, but was glad that she was no longer in pain.
“But i know you will forever cheer me on in heaven!” Thompson added. “We will all make sure your legacy lives on forever. And i promise to always make sure to celebrate our birthday like you never left! The sky looks a little bit different today. We will always love you Anna 💔.”
The news of Caldwell’s passing comes a day after Mama June asked fans for prayers amid her daughter’s battle with terminal cancer.
“I just want to let y’all know that some things have changed in our lives over the last few weeks, things that are totally out of our control,” Mama June said in a video message Friday.
Although Mam June said the mom of two was still with them, she also revealed that the family needed continued prayers as they were going through this transition.
The first mention of Caldwell being ill was back in March when she was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma.
At the time, a source close to the family said that the cancer was found in her liver, kidneys, and lungs.
Caldwell is survived by her two daughters, Kaitlyn Elizabeth, 11, and Kylee Madison, 8. She will definitely be missed by many and the loss will definitely affect her daughters.
