Just three weeks after Tiffany Haddish was arrested for falling asleep at the wheel while intoxicated, the comedian was apprehended again by officers for a DUI.
Haddish, 44, was charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol and another misdemeanor count of driving with .08 percent blood alcohol content (BAC).
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office stated it is illegal in the state of California to drive with a BAC of .08% or higher if you are over 21-years old.
Haddish will have to make an appearance in court on December, 22 for her arraignment and plea.
Haddish has not publicly addressed her charges and instead has been busy promoting her new book “I Curse You with Joy” through her Instagram account. She also shared a post from a follower, who wrote over an image of her, “Let’s lift her up … not tear her down.”
Early in the month, Haddish’s friends were concerned about her November, 24 arrest and now that she has been arrested again and placed in police custody a second time in the past two years, they feel they might need to really step in and intervene.
“As soon as I heard it, I said, ‘Goddamn, I’m glad she’s okay,’” a close friend said. “But it seems weird to me. You would think that someone would have a driver in that situation. This is tough because there’s nothing anybody’s gonna say to take away that this is her second offense.
Haddish’s first arrest for a DUI was in January 2022 in Georgia, where she was reported to be dozing off behind the wheel after being heavily intoxicated.
At the time that the comic’s vehicle was pulled into the yard of a local residence and officials believed she had been under the influence of marijuana.
During Haddish’s second arrest, which took place in Beverly Hills, California officers witnessed Haddish’s car stopping at a standstill in lanes of traffic and not pulling off to the side of the highway.
A Beverly Hills Police Department spokesperson previously said, “Miss Haddish’s condition at the time of her arrest was unclear, but the investigation led officers to arrest her for a DUI.”
The standup comic took the stage a day after her second arrest and joked, “I prayed to God to send me a man with a job, preferably in a uniform. God answered my prayers.”
Despite her joking around, Haddish later vowed to straighten up her act and reach out for help.
Haddish said, “I’m going to get some help so I can learn balance and boundaries. This will never happen again.”
