A woman has recently stepped forward to sue musician Tommy Lee for sexually assaulting her in the cockpit of a helicopter 20 years ago.
The accuser, identified only as Jane Doe in a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, claims the Mötley Crüe drummer was “forcibly groping, kissing and penetrating her with his fingers, and attempting to force her to perform oral copulation” during a 40-minute flight from San Diego County to Van Nuys, California in February 2003.
The woman also claimed she was invited onto the helicopter by pilot David Martz, a man that she had struck a friendly relationship with after he became a patron at the bank she worked at.
“Within a matter of minutes of being airborne, Martz pulled out alcohol he had stored in the helicopter and began to mix drinks,” she recalled to authorities. “Martz and Tommy both drank the alcohol, smoked marijuana, and snorted some cocaine during the flight. I did not consume the booze that was offered to me.”
“At one point I was invited into the cockpit by Martz and that’s when Tommy began to sexually assault me. He became really forceful when I tried to pull away from him. Soon he managed to penetrate me with his fingers while fondling my breasts,” the woman continued to recount the events that took place. “Tommy pulled down his pants at some point and attempted to force my head down by his genitals. I was in tears, but I knew I had nowhere to go and I was trapped inside the helicopter up in the air. I couldn’t leave the cockpit either.”
The woman is suing for gender violence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence, as she claims the alleged incident has left her with “great shock, distress, humiliation, shame and guilt.”
The accuser is seeking past, present, and future damages, including medical expenses, loss of earnings and earnings capacity.
Lee, 61, has yet to address the accusations publicly and has kept hush on the assault being pinned on him.
The woman claims she finally came forward all these years later because she believed that Martz, who died in an aviation accident in 2015, had a history of illegal behavior.
Martz was detained for a DUI in 2009 and reportedly also had a long list of disciplinary issues that led him to losing his pilot’s license at least three times.
