After coming to an amicable custody agreement, Sophie Turner decided to drop the child abduction claims she had against her ex-husband Joe Jonas.
Attorneys handling the former couples custody case have asked a judge in New York to dismiss Turner’s previous filing three months ago, in which she insisted that Joe Jonas abducted their daughters, Willa, 3, and Delphine, 1, amid their divorce.
In September, Turner, 27, filed a lawsuit against her ex, requesting to secure the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or wrongfully retained.
Turner claimed in the documents that Jonas, 34, began the wrongful retention on September 20th.
She said they agreed during Christmas 2022 that they would make the UK their forever home and would start looking for schools for their oldest daughter, Willa.
Turner claimed at that time Jonas withheld their daughters’ passports so they couldn’t leave the U.S.
Despite her claims, Jonas firmly denied the accusations and said he never abducted his girls.
Less than 24 hours later, Sophie advised that she wanted to take the children permanently to the UK. Thereafter, she demanded via this filing that Joe hand over the children’s passports so that she could take them out of the country immediately.
“This is an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending. When language like ‘abduction’ is used, it is misleading at best, and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst,” a legal representative of the couple stated.
Jonas filed for divorce from Turner in September 2023 after four years of marriage. Since the divorce filing, the two have been firmly locked in a contentious custody battle over their daughters.
However, during last October, Jonas had reached a temporary custody agreement with Turner. The agreement was supposed to last through January 2024.
In the meantime, Turner has romantically moved on with British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson and is really happy with their new romance.
Jonas on the other hand has also been seen out and about with his new pal Stormi Bree.
Jonas, and the 33-year old model were first seen together at an airport in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, earlier this month.
The two then headed to Aspen, Colorado, where they skied, sat together on a ski lift, and even were spotted laughing while enjoying a nice cold beer.
