Love can soothe anyone’s soul, but it can also leave behind scars.
Some move on and find a better love, while others find themselves spiraling downward after a breakup.
These celeb couples that were once fussed over by fans, are now quickly forgotten.
Let’s take a trip down memory lane and remember these once in love celeb couples, who were madly and deeply in love.
#1. Brad Pitt & Juliette Lewis
These celebrity actors once played doomed lovers twice, in 1990’s Too Young to Die and 1993’s Kalifornia, but in real life that had a rather splendid love life.
“I still love the woman,” Pitt, who was Lewis’ date to the 1992 Oscars when she scored a Supporting Actress nomination for Cape Fear, told Vanity Fair in February 1995. “There’s some real genius there. I had a great time with her. It was one of the greatest relationships I’ve ever been in. The problem is, we grow up with this vision that love conquers all, and that’s just not so, is it?”
#2. Winona Ryder & Matt Damon
It wasn’t all a dream of our imaginations, these two celeb actors really were a couple in the late 90s. Legend has it that the couple was introduced by fellow actress Gwyneth Paltrow (who famously dated Damon’s friend Ben Affleck), but the couple called it quits in 2000.
After their split Damon still considered Ryder a great woman and Ryder reciprocated by saying Matt couldn’t have been a nicer guy.
“He is such a sweet man and I’m really lucky that I’m still on good terms with him,” Ryder said during an interview with Black Book in 2009.
#3. Justin Timberlake & Cameron Diaz
Many fans speculated there was more to the singer and actress than met the eye after they interacted at the 2003 Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards. When Diaz presented Timberlake the award for Best Burp, they seemed like there was some sort of love connection.
Fans’ hunches were proven correct when it was discovered that the two had been dating for four years before they separated for good in 2007.
Diaz said, “We ended on good terms. It was a mutual decision and we are still friends. We continue to love and support each other with respect, just in a different way now.”
#4. Madonna & Tupac Shakur
As far fetched as it may seem, yes, these two actually dated each other!
Madonna had never publicly addressed her relationship with the now deceased rapper who was killed in 1996, until 2015.
When Howard Stern brought up her infamously famous chat with talk show host David Letterman that took place in 1994, Madonna explained that she was dating Tupac Shakir at the time.
“He had me all riled up on life in general when we dated,” Madonna told Stern.
#5. Reese Witherspoon & Jake Gyllenhaul
After a very public divorce with fellow actor Ryan Phillippe, actress Reese Witherspoon had briefly dated Jake Gyllenhaul.
The two had starred in the 2007 thriller ‘Rendition’ and they dated for a couple of years before Reese called it quits and moved on to marry Jim Toth.
“She is, as I would say about most of the women who I’m close friends with or had relationships in my life, one of the smartest, strongest people I’ve ever met,” Jake said admiringly abut his ex-girlfriend.
#6. Alanis Morissette & Ryan Reynolds
Yes, before Ryan Reynolds met his now wife, Blake Lively, he was once engaged to the famous musician Alanis Morissette.
“Oh yeah, I love her music,” Reynolds told People of his then-fiancée in 2005. “It can be awkward when she walks in and I’m listening to it in my underwear dancing.”
However, despite how much the two seemed in love at the time, the music came to a stop for the couple in 2007.
The fellow Canadians amicably split in a very polite way after spending four years together.
