People magazine has been a staple in society since 1974, wooing everyone from Oscar and Grammy winners to talk show hosts and politicians, to grace the cover of their magazine.
In honor of People magazine’s 50th anniversary, some of the most iconic stars were happy enough to recreate their most memorable shots.
From Lionel Richie and Goldie Hawn to Fabio, see these celebs’ cover moments, then and now.
Ricki Lake, Nov. 21, 1994
Who could ever forget the talk show host Ricki Lake, who became a staple in most homes in the 90s, to view everything from troubled teens to glam makeovers for exhausted moms.
“This was a wild time in my life, but I felt honored to grace this iconic magazine that I had been reading all of my life,” says Ricki Lake, 55. “I have such fond memories of shooting it.”
Ricky Martin, Dec. 4, 2000
This man’s salsa dancing hips had most women ( and some men) screaming “Livin La Vida Loca’ at their tv screens. Ricky Martin seems to be getting better with age like a fine wine.
“I don’t think I remember!” Ricky Martin, 52, says of his shoot, which came around the time of his Living La Vida Loca tour. “In those days I was doing three different photo shoots a day.”
Maury Povich and Connie Chung, April 10, 1989
“He is not the father,” can still be heard ringing in the public peoples’ ears from the iconic Maury Povich Talk Show.
This power couple was a force to be reckoned with, as one took over the talk show circuit and the other dominated CBS News.
“PEOPLE has always been fair and honest in terms of interviewing us,” says Maury Povich, 85, who married Connie Chung, 77, in 1984.
Linda Evans, April 11, 1983
Holding her age well, Linda Evans, and iconic face of the show ‘Dynasty’, still looks just as gorgeous as she did in 1983!
“If I don’t think I looked good then, then I’m in big trouble!” the ex-Dynasty star, 81, jokes. “I should be very grateful that cover exists.”
Donna Mills, June 2, 1986
‘Knots Landing’ actress Donna Mills, posed in a provocative lace low-cut dress to show over her sultriness. Now, she is back to grace the cover in the same outfit and show despite age, she still can pull off the look.
“It came out looking exactly like the original cover!” former Knots Landing star Donna Mills, 83, says of her re-creation. “It was really fun to do.”
Goldie Hawn, March 6, 1978
The famous actress and mother to fellow actress Kate Hudson, Goldie Hawn, was widely known to play ditzy blonde characters with her baby blue doe-eyed stare. One her famous roles on the movie ‘Overboard’ was how she met her actor husband Kurt Russell.
She’s still got it! Goldie Hawn, 78, shows off the same moves she did at 32, when she was a new mom to son Oliver and gearing up for the release of Foul Play, with Chevy Chase.
Clint Black and Lisa Hartman, Aug. 24, 1992
If you’re a country music lover, then you’ll be no stranger to knowing Clint Black and his wife Lisa Hartman. The country crooner was known for iconic songs like, A Better Man, Killin’ Time, and Like the Rain.
“Lisa and I were honored to shoot a cover for the iconic PEOPLE magazine,” says Clint Black, 62, of his wife Lisa Hartman, 67. “And we’re both people! How perfect was that?”

Hello to this handsome man, who stole women’s hearts with his sad and romantic love ballads, but also captured them with some great upbeat dance tracks too. Now, he is the father of famous actress/fashion designer Nicole Richie and his other daughter Sofia Richie is a model.
PEOPLE’s cover was “the top of pop culture,” says Lionel Richie, 74, whose recent documentary The Greatest Night in Pop recounts the recording of “We Are the World.”
Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, Feb. 19, 1990
Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas were co-stars in ‘Romancing The Stone’ in 1984 and turned heads of fans with their beauty and handsome looks. Some fans even thought that their chemistry on set led to a secret love affair behind the scenes, but it was not the case. Douglas was married and Turner claimed despite there being some sexual tension between the two, she was no home-wrecker.
“I was actually quoting some ‘War of the Roses‘ lines to him as we lay there,” Kathleen Turner, 69, says of the 1990 shoot with Michael Douglas, 79.
Fabio, Oct. 4, 1993
Saving the best for last, who could ever forget the iconic Fabio and his gorgeous golden locks!
His golden lion’s mane might be a bit more aged now, but it’s still long and flowing in the wind, as Fabio still keeps up his buff physique.
Fabio, 65, says his iconic cover helped his “conservative” dad understand his career path. “That was the first time he was like, ‘I’m so proud of you,’ ” the star recalls.
