Pierce Brosnan’s estranged son, Christopher Brosnan, recently resurfaced in public nearly 20 years after his father distanced himself due to Christopher’s battle with addiction.
The 51-year-old, who once worked as an assistant director on Pierce’s films “Tomorrow Never Dies” (1997), “The World Is Not Enough” (1999), and “Robinson Crusoe” (1997), was spotted on Friday exiting a Waitrose grocery store in London.
Christopher, seemingly alone, wore a red hoodie under an olive green puffer vest, paired with navy blue joggers and gray Converse sneakers. His shaggy brown hair peeked out from beneath a backward navy blue flat cap. Holding his phone in one hand and a reusable Waitrose bag in the other, he walked down the street with a solemn expression.
Born to Pierce’s first wife, Cassandra Harris, and her ex-husband Dermot Harris, Christopher was adopted by Pierce after Dermot’s death in 1986.
Pierce also adopted Christopher’s late sister, Charlotte Brosnan. Pierce and Cassandra had one biological son, Sean Brosnan, 40.
After Cassandra’s death in 1991 from ovarian cancer, Pierce married Keely Shaye Brosnan in 2001, and they have two sons, Dylan Brosnan, 27, and Paris Brosnan, 23.
Christopher’s struggles with drug abuse, overdoses, and legal issues forced Pierce to distance himself.
In a 2005 interview with Playboy magazine, Pierce expressed his sorrow over the situation, saying, “Christopher is still very lost. Shockingly so. I know where he is, but he’s having a hard life.”
Pierce added, “I can only have strong faith and believe he will recover. He has tested everybody in this family but none more so than himself. He knows how to get out. He doesn’t want to.”
Describing the ordeal as “painful,” Pierce admitted it had led him to “shut down.” He stated, “You never completely cut them off, but I have cut Christopher off. I had to say, ‘Go. Get busy living, or get busy dying.’ He has my prayers.”
Despite their estrangement, Pierce included Christopher in a heartfelt Father’s Day Instagram post in 2022. He shared a photo with his other three sons and captioned it, “My love forever to you dear sons, Paris, Dylan, Sean, and Christopher. Thank you deeply for your love ❤️ on this Father’s Day.”
