Gwyneth Paltrow’s showing off her birthday suit and embracing another year older!
The Goop founder stripped down and got slathered in metallic body powder for a “Goldfinger”-inspired nude shoot in honor of her 50th birthday Tuesday.
“All I know is that they’re painting me gold and that I have to be naked. I feel so good turning 50, and this is about expressing that sense of energy and optimism that I’m experiencing,” Paltrow said. “It’s more about the female gaze and just a sense of fun.”
Photographer Andrew Yee snapped the stunning pics, while celebrity makeup artist Lottie was tasked with turning Paltrow into a golden goddess.
After making sure the skin on her face and body was very, very moisturized and using products from Goop Beauty’s Goopgenes line, naturally, Lottie applied multiple layers of gold powder to the actress’ face and body.
“Gwyneth was such a sport. We started the day with less and built to more and more gold,” she recalled.
Hairstylist Mark Townsend, meanwhile, used the same gilded powder on Paltrow’s long blond locks, after using Goopglow Restore + Shine Hair Serum ($55) to saturate her strands.
“I think aging is actually a beautiful thing. We just need to open our perceptions,” Paltrow said of the shoot. “As you become more yourself, in integrity, your life really opens up.”
“I like my wrinkles and you know, I like what I see,” Paltrow said. “Of course I can get into the frame of mind where I get critical about this and that, but I really try to not do that and try to appreciate the incredible life I’ve lived and all I’ve learned. I like that all of that is written on my face.”
Still, during a 2020 chat with her mother, Blythe Danner, and her teenage daughter, Apple, Paltrow admitted that aging is hard.
“It’s definitely a process, and I think when you see your face start to change, you don’t necessarily feel your most beautiful externally,” she said. “But the irony is it’s that time in your life when you actually really like yourself and love yourself. So you sort of internally feel really beautiful.”
