Singer Doja Cat has filed a restraining order against her older brother after he physically abused her in an altercation.
The order filed stated that Doja Cat, 28, real name Amala Ratna Zadile Dlamini, needed protection against her 30-year old brother Raman Dalithando Dlamini.
Apparently, Doja Cat’s brother had assaulted her and knocked out her teeth. She also suffered with bruising and multiple cuts after the assault was over.
Doja Cat’s mother, Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer, was the one to file the restraining order on behalf of her daughter on January 12th.
“Raman has verbally assaulted her in a very degrading and demeaning manor,” Deborah stated in the filing. “He made her feel unsafe and has left my daughter traumatized.”
Doja’s mom also claims Raman stole and damaged some of her daughter’s personal belongings.
As for Sawyer, she alleges Raman has also been physically abusive toward her “several times” over the past year and threatened to kill her. Her most recent violent encounter with her son occurred in early January.
Sawyer states that she has been granted temporary restraining orders against her son since 2017, but they have since expired.
A judge granted Sawyer’s request for temporary court-ordered protection from Raman pending a hearing for a permanent restraining order. However, Doja Cat was not granted the same protection, since she would need to file her own restraining order against her brother.
Meanwhile, the artist has been active on her social media amid her mother’s allegations against her brother.
Doja Cat went on Instagram Tuesday to share Coachella’s 2024 lineup after it was announced that she would be headlining alongside Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator and No Doubt.
She also posted a selfie of herself sporting three pairs of sunglasses Wednesday, with the caption: “😊”
