Actress Isla Fisher expressed how grateful she was for all the kind support that she has received from friends and family following her divorce announcement with ex-husband Sacha Baron Cohen.
“Thank you for all the kindness and support,” Fisher, 48, wrote in a caption on her Instagram Story along with a photo of herself smiling while sitting outside with a glass of wine.
In April, Fisher announced that she and the “Borat” actor had filed for divorce quietly in 2023 after being married for 14 years.
“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down,” Fisher wrote in a statement on her Instagram along with an image of her and Cohen wearing tennis outfits.
“In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change,” she continued.
Fisher also noted that Cohen, 52, will always share their devotion of love for their two daughters and one son.
“We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy,” Fisher ended.
Fisher also explained that they finally decided to address the divorce due to the news being leaked that they were living separately.
Fisher and Cohen had met at a party in Sydney back in 2001, they found themselves bonding over making fun of the attendees. Three years later, they ended up engaged and then married each other in 2010 with a Parisian style wedding.
They have kept their daughters, ages 15 and 13, and 8-year-old son largely out of the spotlight for privacy reasons.
The breakup news also came amid accusations from Rebel Wilson that Cohen had asked her to perform a lewd act for the 2016 film “The Brothers Grimsby”, which the actor denied.
Cohen’s reps made a statement saying, “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of ‘Grimsby.’”
