50 and looking fabulous!
Molly Sims made a sparkling statement on the cover of the 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue this month, and while many have praised her for looking spectacular for her age, the model would like to state otherwise.
“I hate when people are like, ‘Oh, my God. She looks good for 50.’ Listen, I’m not trying to look 30. I’m definitely not trying to look 20. I am trying to look the best that I can,” Sims explained.
The YSE Beauty founder, who turns 51 this weekend, sported a form-fitting pink sequined gown on the cover of Sports Illustrated, sharing that starring in the magazine in her twenties “was a big deal.”
Sims said, “I felt like they accepted me more as opposed to being just rail-thin. I found the experience of posing for SI Swimsuit much different as someone coming from the runway.”
Sims, who was the former House of Style host, chose to wear a glittering mesh dress to the magazine’s 60th anniversary party last week.
The mom of three went on to pose for six issues of the bikini bible in the early aughts, but it took age and experience for her to feel more comfortable in her skin.
Last month, she opened up on “Getting Grilled with Curtis Stone” about being called “too fat” and people claiming she had a “crooked” nose in the early days of her career.
As for YSE Beauty, which launched in April 2023, the “Lipstick on the Rim” podcast host said the name of her skincare line (which is pronounced “wise”) was inspired by her “very wise” late mother.
“YSE was born from a really bad situation that I had gotten myself into with my skin and hyperpigmentation and unevenness,” Sims shared. “A lot of things that I was using, they didn’t have efficacy. With YSE, I’m all about efficacy without messing up the barrier.”
Sims added, “I want my products to look as good as they feel and make people proud to have it on their vanity.”
“I don’t want to be spoken to like I’m someone’s grandmother,” Sims said. “I don’t want to be targeted like, ‘I’m sorry you’re so old.’ I don’t want my products to reflect that.”
Some of her products include; a Vitamin C Cocktail Serum ($85) and Skin Glow SPF 30 Primer ($48).
At the end of the day Sims claims simple is best. She just wanted something that was easy because as a mom she knows there isn’t a lot of time to yourself.
“If I had a bit of downtime, I would be in my closet drinking, but I don’t have time,” Sims joked.
