Diane von Furstenberg revealed that she once contemplated a “three-way” with Mick Jagger and David Bowie.
The renowned fashion designer shared this intimate detail in her new documentary, “Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge,” admitting she had considered the offer.
“Well, this is something I can tell my grandchildren about,” von Furstenberg remarked in the documentary.
A fan on X, who attended an early screening, claimed that she ultimately declined the offer because she “wasn’t feeling it.” The timing of the alleged encounter remains unclear.
In the documentary, von Furstenberg also recounted other past escapades, mentioning a weekend where she was involved with both Warren Beatty and Ryan O’Neal.
“I was living a man’s life in a woman’s body,” she said.
Jagger has not publicly responded to von Furstenberg’s revelation, and Bowie passed away from liver cancer in January 2016 at the age of 69.
Von Furstenberg, now 77, has been married to media mogul Barry Diller since 2001. She was previously married to Prince Egon von Furstenberg from 1969 to 1972.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Diller also appears in the documentary, discussing the liberated lifestyle of the 70s during their early relationship. He described a period when “everyone slept with everyone” and they had “nonexclusive lovers for several years.”
Von Furstenberg called Diller her soulmate, stating, “First he was my lover, then my friend. Barry is the consistent love in my life.”
The documentary also delves into her childhood, her divorce, and the creation of the iconic wrap dress.
At the film’s Tribeca Film Festival premiere, von Furstenberg shared that directors Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Trish Dalton persuaded her to participate in the documentary after initially planning a film about “badass women.”
When asked about her drive to succeed in fashion, she said it was “originally to become in charge.” She emphasized the importance of being a good person and valuing “kindness as a currency.”
“Diane von Furstenberg: Woman in Charge” premieres June 25 on Hulu.
