Jon Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorothea Hurley, have been a couple since their high school days, and their love story continues to captivate fans.
During his appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Wednesday, the rock star reminisced about falling for Hurley in their history class and shared a heartfelt note she left in his high school yearbook.
“John, write a sequel to ‘Bobby’s Girl’ but name it ‘She’s Johnny’s Now,’” Hurley had written, signing it “Love, Dot.”
Bon Jovi, 62, explained that he never calls her by that nickname but revealed the backstory.
He had penned an early song titled “Bobby’s Girl” while Hurley was dating his friend Bobby. When Bobby and his other friends joined the Navy during Bon Jovi’s senior year, he found himself falling in love with Hurley.
This nostalgic anecdote comes a couple of months after Bon Jovi stirred up conversation with some candid comments about his marriage while promoting his Hulu documentary, “Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.”
In an April interview with The Independent, the Grammy winner admitted he wasn’t always a “saint.”
He also told Michael Strahan later that week that he “got away with murder” in his younger days. “I’m not saying that there weren’t a 100 girls in my life,” he reflected. “I’m Jon Bon Jovi. It was pretty good.”
Hurley, 61, who missed the documentary’s New York City screening due to a COVID-19 diagnosis, has been married to Bon Jovi since their Las Vegas elopement in 1989.
The couple shares four children: daughter Stephanie, 31, and sons Jesse, 29, Jake, 22, and Romeo, 20.
Their eldest son, Jesse, recently married Jesse Light in the same Las Vegas chapel where Bon Jovi and Hurley tied the knot.
Additionally, in May, multiple outlets reported that Jake secretly married “Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown in a “low-key, romantic” ceremony.
Bon Jovi described the wedding as “small” and “gorgeous” during a May interview on BBC’s “The One Show.”
The newlyweds reportedly honeymooned in Florida, with Millie Bobby Brown, 20, spotted wearing “WIFEY” shorts during a visit to Universal Studios.
